After struggling as a penniless trainee/assistant for over a year I emerged as a fully fledged freelance Make Up Artist. Got an agent. Made up lots of models for pop promos, glossy mags (Elle Decoration, For Him), catwalk shows (Helen Storey at London Fashion Week), Barclays Bank poster campaing and lots of celebs (Rowan Atkinson, Jonathan Ross, Annabel Giles, Hale & Pace, Brian May from Queen.) Four years of fun then I fell into the insurance market. Total accident. Trained to be an Underwriter by day and pickled my liver at night. Totally different from anything I had ever done before but after four and half years in the City I went back to a more creative role in Soho working for an advertising agency. After moving from London to San Francisco in 2005 my two children are now at elementary school so I now have time to pursue my lifelong passion for photography and finally learn everything I always wanted at the Academy of Art. I am really enjoying exploring the three different directions on offer but am leaning towards either fine art or commercial. I'm pretty convinced documentary photography is not my direction but it's always interesting to learn new things. I particularly enjoy shooting "life" subjects like portraits and capturing the beauty of the landscape around Marin. Read Less
