"Ghost Ride": desktop wall paper for Kitsune Noir

This wall paper won first place in the first ever "Desktop Battle" held by Bobby Solomon at KitsuneNoir.com. The theme for the contest was "ghosts." Simply put, "Ghost Ride" shows a ghost riding through the night with some of his ghostly possesions, he even has his cat Betsy in the basket. I also made sure to leave some space for icons on the right.

The wall paper is still available for download at this address:

Senior Thesis: Corporate Annual for The North Face

This multi-faceted project is essentially four spreads from a fictitious corporate annual for The North Face. Please note: THIS IS NOT AFFILIATED WITH THE NORTH FACE in any way. This was my senior thesis project for the William H. Ely juried exhibition sponsored by the illustration department at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA. Each spread combines a large illustration, as well as a spot/information graphic, and hand-lettered title. Illustration/Design/Printing all done by myself. The final pieces for the show were digitally printed on off-white german etching paper. This one was a bugger.

Backwords cd packaging

Cd packaging developed for my good friends Backwords (www.backwordsmusic.net). Packaging was printed by the great folks at Stumptown Printers in Portland, OR and is printed on recycled chipboard and printed with vegetable ink. Illustration's depict narrative of "angel stones" being quarried and stripped of their stone edifice to reveal seeds that are for planting tree houses. It was fun to draw.

Freshman Survival Guide

These illustrations were recently used for the annual "Freshman Survival Guide" in the back to school issue of the Jazz Times. The big illustration is a compass rose made up of elements from music school, this is to illustrate that the articles content is perhaps guiding the reader/showing them the way through school. The spot illustrations are self-explanatory and deal with other aspects of music school such as: life in a city, balancing practice and studies, and playing outside gigs.

Broken Trees disc sleeve

This is a disc sleeve, which I illustrated/designed/printed for my friend Liz and her band Broken Trees (myspace.com/brokentrees) in an edition of 90. The imagery on the front cover serves as a metaphor for seeing the beauty in life's crooked situations.

Moonlit Traveler

This is a recent zine of drawings that I put together during the Summer of 2008. It is a hand-bound edition of 10, with color-copied pages and the cover is a linoleum block print. I do my best to explain the title via the introduction on the first page.
