As an artist, I am most inspired by people, as they are my most utilized subjects in my drawings. Psychology, desires, and relation to other people and the self are interesting to me and come across in my artwork. Additionally, the personality behind the portrait is what largely drives my artwork. I am not confined to portraits and figures however. I enjoy landscapes because of the natural and beautiful aspects and still lives because of the meaning behind the objects.
Regardless of the subject, my work is consistently detailed, realistic, refined, and tight. I pay close attention to detail, enjoying the meticulous work process. My work is almost solely black and white drawings, since that is my area of most expertise, and pencils facilitate a medium coherent with my style. I choose black and white because I enjoy focusing on gradual shading with an ultimate goal of a sfumato appearance. Working with only the grayscale brings attention to the gradual shift of tone, without the distraction of color.
