I don't know much about the art school, so I can't say if it's a good school or not. But I do encourage you to look around at other schools as well. Have you consider going to school in the state of Texas? University of North Texas have one of the best Graphic Design programs in the southwest. They call it communication design. It's a 4.5 to 5 year program but they really teach you how to think. I graduated from there :) Check it out if you have time. Try to email or call the department and ask for Eric Ligon. Good luck.

D,
There are a lot of great work out there and there are a lot of junk as well so make sure you are looking at and learn from the good stuff. Lot of people think that design is all about making this pretty. It's not true. Before anything is designed there have to be a idea. Focus on learning how to come up with idea first before you start working on computers. Learn to use pencil to do 100s of thumbnails first before trying for the finished product. Start looking at books like Communication arts, print design annual etc. Also if you are thinking about school starting researching, the so called art schools are not all that great, most of them teach you the tools (computers.) but really not teaching you how to think. I hope this help. good luck.
