Fisheye Pictures Identity

Fisheye Pictures is led by award-winning director Anthony Chen. Their latest short film Haze is headed for the Berlin Film Festival on Feb 17 as the first Singaporean short film to be selected to compete in the short film category. Along with the redesign of Fisheye Pictures identity, I have designed a series of promotional materials for the Berlin press during the festival. It was also time for a new business card to go with the rebranding exercise.

AEN DIRECT Identity

I needed business cards when I meet people and to promote myself. The design is meant to portray a sense of seriousness and simplicity, using a minimal approach and typography. As it was meant for a low print run, digital printing was chosen over offset. The result of the 4-colour digital printing is a zen-feeling, slightly grained black surface promoting good readability, despite small font sizes.

Widgeo.us Identity

Widgeo.us is a fresh and upcoming internet startup founded by U-Zyn and Ridzuan. The concept of Widgeo.us (in my own words) revolves around the liberation of communication and empowering of users by providing them with an easy tool to build tools. That is all I can say, though the name “widgeo.us” sort of gives it away.

I joined Widgeo.us as Art Director along with Kah Wee as Program Analyst. U-Zyn and Kah Wee are basically the propeller-heads, Ridzuan is the rain-maker and I’m the pony-tail. As we are still at a very early stage of development, we don’t have much to disclose except for our logo and business cards with a short description of what and who we are.

The logo depicts the company name exiting/entering a rounded rectangular box. The rounded rectangle mark represents our product, widgets and the logo entering and exiting represents communication and the flow of information. The logotype is set in Neue Helvetica® 65 Medium modified with rounded corners for a casual, relaxed appearance.

The cards were printed in Hong Kong by Print22, together with the UV varnish effect on the logo at the back of the card. The idea behind this business card design is to packed as much relevant (only relevant) information as possible into a compact card without clutter. I was able to do it by separating the various elements (logo, particulars, description, etc) into boxes and applying some clever typography principles. Colors are meant to be fresh and free from corporate cliché.

SIngaporeBrides Wedding Fashion

An interactive showcase of exquisite wedding gowns with a front-end developed in Actionscript 2.0. Wedding gowns from 2 boutiques are being showcased this season in an interactive gallery. Users are able to view the wedding gown photos by selecting individually and also in slideshow mode. The gallery comes with a Wishlist feature which allow users to save their favorite gowns into a wishlist that works like a shopping cart, all within Flash, without the need for any registration. When they return to the gallery on the same computer, the wishlist will still be around as it is saved on the user’s own computer. Those interested in the showcased gowns can then forward their wishlist to the respective boutiques.
