8A Architecten is a young and ambitious architectural office founded by Dutch architect Robert Uijttewaal. We are located at the Creative Factory, Maassilo Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Our main focus is designing buildings and interiors. We aim to give the buildings an expression which is integrated with the use and identity of the building. Our buildings stand in service of the user and have a clear human scale. The buildings have a sustainable character and a strong relation with the surroundings. Our designs characterise themselves by a clear geometrical form language.

We work on several projects, varying from small-scale assignments such as interiors, rebuilds and residential houses, to large-scale assignments such as public buildings, housing, office buildings and industrial buildings. Read Less

We are not a traditional architectural office. We work with a network of freelance professionals from which a specialised design team is formed for the specific client or project. These are professionals in the fields of interior design, architectural design, urban design, garden design, landscape design, building engineering and sustainability. By having this internal organisation we are a flexible and dynamic office which adapts itself easily to the ever changing demands of society. The scale of our design team depends of the projects on hand. We work with an average of 6 professionals from the fields of interior design, architectural design and building engineering on several architectural and interior projects.

A good project begins with a good client. We see our clients as part of our design team. We don't work for our clients, but with our clients. We work according to an integrated design process. This means that we design the complete building, including the interior and technical development of the building. Because of our flexible internal organisation we can involve all creative, technical and financial knowledge and build up experience in the design in the earliest possible stage.
