"L'UOMO IN CARBONCINO E SANGUIGNA", MICHELANGELO BUONARROTI ,   UFFIZI, FIRENZE
- MUSEUM INSTALLATION -

The Magliabechiana room occupies the northeastern section of the ground floor within the Uffizi Gallery complex. It boasts a well-structured layout, featuring 12 bays covered by cross vaults, spanning a total area of approximately 750 square metres. Recently subjected to restoration efforts, this space is now dedicated to hosting temporary exhibitions curated by the Uffizi Gallery in Florence.

Our concept revolves around reintroducing Michelangelo's masterpieces depicting the human body. Michelangelo's profound fascination with humanity's unique essence is vividly captured in these charcoal and sanguine works. To effectively honour his style and the liberated nature of these pieces, our museum installation aims for an experience that is easy to perceive, observe, and emotionally connect with. In pursuit of these goals, we have crafted a unified visual language that harmonises the choice of materials, the interplay of both natural and artificial lighting, and the meticulous arrangement of the artworks within the exhibition hall.
The project utilises subtle LED lighting wires on the ground to guide visitors, creating an inviting path while displaying artworks along the room's sides to maximise openness.
To manage the abundant natural light, we'll employ nylon wire panels to filter and accentuate displayed works. The exhibition focuses on two themes: "The Human Body Through Michelangelo's Eyes" and "The 'NUDE' Human Body from Michelangelo's Perspective." For the latter, nylon panels enclose the central area, crafting an intimate and visually appealing space with enhanced transparency.
